Meet our February Mama of the Month, Sarah Gallagher!
Tell us about your family!
My husband (Brian) and I were set up on a blind date by our parents. We got married in 2020, and our son Hugh was born in March 2023. We’re having a second son soon - he’ll be here in a few short weeks!
Where is your hometown?
I grew up in Pittsburgh, moved away for college and work, and then came back home in 2015.
What is/was your current/previous career?
My first career was a teacher - I spent five years teaching mostly music and some math in a small school in rural Alaska. I returned home to pursue my master's in math and then pivoted to a career in the banking world, where I am still working today.
How did you find FIT4MOM?
It came up in a search when I was trying to find a prenatal yoga class during my first pregnancy. I knew I’d want to try the stroller classes, so I bookmarked the site for later.
How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM North Hills, and what has it done for you?
I attended stroller classes in 2023 while on maternity leave. I stopped when I returned to work full-time, but rejoined in early 2024, when Body Well started last January. I’ve been in the Body Well classes ever since!
What is your favorite class exercise?
Anything with the mini band.
What classes do you currently attend, and why do you love them?
I currently attend the Body Well classes. It’s such a positive, inspiring, and uplifting group, and it's a highlight of my week!
What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
It’s been so much more fun than I could have imagined. We’re the first in both immediate families to have kids (and still the only ones to have kids), so I didn’t realize how much more joyful our lives would be.
What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
Seeing how much Hugh (and the rest of our family) learns and laughs every day. I love seeing his personality emerge.
What advice would you go back and tell yourself as a new mom?
Do things that are outside of your comfort zone. It’s worth it!
